According to Travel & Leisure Magazine’s recent cover story, Rio is “hot, and on the rise”.
There is simply no other city on earth more beautiful or more exciting. Attractions both natural and cosmopolitan abound to suit the tastes of even the most jaded traveler. It is indeed the perfect place to begin your Brazilian holiday. Here is our recommendation for….
Four Perfect Days in Rio de Janeiro….
Day #01 Arrival… Met at the airport by one of our expert guides, and whisked away by private car to your hotel … Your guide assists with check-in, money changing and any questions you may have about life in Rio… also briefs you on optional tours, events, festivals and shows of interest, makes restaurant recommendations, etc…. gives you his/her cell phone number so you have “your man in Rio” who is available to help you in anyway possible.
Shower, change and hit the beach…. Rio is unsurpassed for people watching. Stop at a juice bar or beachside café, sip a cool coconut water or ice-cold beer and watch the “cariocas” enjoy themselves. The sand is warm, the water cool and the living is easy! Stroll the side streets and stop in at a “boutiquin” – a small café – and snack on some fresh pastries of cheese, shrimp or chicken.
Later on return to your hotel, shower and nap. Remember, no in Rio goes out until after 9PM!
Tonight try our Rio By Night tour, featuring a typical Brazilian “churrascaria” where an army of eager servers bring skewers of incredible barbecued meats (fish and salads too!), all followed by a glittering revue of Brazilian song, dance and folklore.
Day #02 Your guide picks you up this morning for tour of Rio, including the fabulous beaches of Ipanema, Copacabana and Flamengo. End with a breath-taking ascent up Sugar Loaf Mountain via a series of cable cars… An unforgettable excursion.
After lunch consider a Jeep Expedition in to the exuberant Atlantic Coastal Rainforest that surrounds Rio. Explore the valleys and peaks of this lush jungle! Or, maybe our look at Carnival Behind the Scenes where you’ll meet the people and observe their preparations for the big event.
Tonight you may opt for our Samba Samba excursion; a funky, offbeat visit to a real Samba School. Or how about heading out to a Gafeiera (Brazilian dance hall) and make like Fred and Ginger as you dance to the samba, rumba and other great sounds. Your guide can arrange it all!
Day #03 You could spend the day at the beach. Or Rio’s many museums. Or, better yet, take a full day Schooner Trip to the tropical islands south of Rio for sunbathing and snorkeling. Prefer the mountains? There are excursions to the royal city of Petropolis or horseback riding and canoeing opportunities.
Final night in Rio. Try dinner at one of the casual yet oh-so-sophisticated restaurants around town. Pax Delicia for inventive Italian or Casa da Feijoada for the Brazilian national dish. Afterwards, stop at Provisorio in Ipanema or Ilha da Pescadore in Barra to see where Rio’s “young and restless” go to meet, mingle and dance the night away.
